Nonstop Construction
New York is fun for kids because there is always construction.
When I moved here in 2003 I thought, "Wow, there is a lot of construction at the moment. I wonder when it will be done."
I soon realized the answer is never, it will never be done.
Is that annoying? Not if you're three years old and love to look at excavators, bulldozers, and cranes.
"Can I ride in the excavator?" my son asks, as we walk by a construction site.
"Sure," I say.
We climb over the fence, put on hard hats and orange vests (safety first), and get in the excavator.
A man in hard hat and is waving at us and shouting.
We use the excavator to scoop him up and put him in a hole. Then we use the excavator to cover him up with dirt.
Not totally covered, we're not monsters. Just a little bit of dirt so he stops shouting so much.
Wow, this is fun.
New York City really is a magical place.
